Children as Learnes - UNit 1 Part 9

I completely disagre with statement nº 1; I really think that listening to songs is very useful and adequate for all ages, it´s just that the teacher need o adapt the song to the learner´s age.
As for the last statement is concerned I must say that I´d rather tell the learner to slow down and check his answers and, yes, once he has check I would give him extra tasks to do.

I agree with statement nº 2

Best,

Yes, thanks Elena. The teacher can adapt the song and if need be, and also adapt tasks to fit the language capabilities of the group.

I don't agree to the statement 1 : "I never do songs with my group of 10-year-olds. They think singing songs is for babies." It depends on how the teacher choose appropriate materials which appeals to different pupils. Pupils tend to learn faster through rhytmn.

I partially agree to statement 2 : "I always start the lesson with a review of the previous lesson. And I always end the lesson with a song." It is good to get the pupils accustom to a structure in learning / lessons, but not always with the same activity.

I agree to statement 3 : "I prepare extra exercises for the children who finish early. It's not good if they have nothing to do." Pupils work at different pace and speed, so it is best to let them have more practise.

For the first statement I slightly agree because I have seen how some students at this age don´t want to sing the songs that appear in the text book, they prefer other type of music/songs, but they do sing and so do I with them.
