A product approach? A process approach?

I personally like giving my students some freedom to create stories or articles for their writing activities, so sometimes I let them choose from two different topics for their writings. However, it is also interesting to teach them and show them a model for them to follow. Otherwise, some students may get lost and thus lose their interest in writing.
