The natural world is interconnected with human prosperity on many levels. Today, the Earth and everything which dwells on it faces unprecedented challenges.

The well-being of the natural world is vital to the survival of humanity. We simply cannot live without the clean water, breathable air, food, medicines, energy and the many other valuable resources provided by the complex and interconnected web of ecosystems and habitats hosted by our one and only planet.

When nature’s web is placed at risk, so is humanity. Tackling the challenges faced by our environment is a task in which we must all play a part.

WWF works globally, regionally and locally. Our mission is to stop the degradation of our planet’s natural environment and build a future in which people can live in harmony with nature. From high-level policy and advocacy work and on-the-ground conservation activities, to public involvement in environmental action and nurturing a green generation, we work with people from every sector and at every level to seek practical solutions which will achieve our goals. We strategically focus on conserving critical places and species that are of particular importance to their habitat or to humanity, and we devise programmes that aim to reduce the negative impacts of human activities.

Hong Kong is a unique place. This small territory is rich in biodiversity and at the same time, as an international finance and trading hub, we are also rich in monetary terms. There is so much to be done – and that can be done – in terms of preserving our local biodiversity, rethinking the way we consume, and educating and empowering people to play a part in conservation.

Together, we can create a sustainable future for humans and nature.

WWF was founded in 1961 by a group of passionate and committed individuals with the vision and determination to change the future – for good of the natural world and for all life on Earth.

Today, WWF is one of the world’s largest and most respected conservation organizations, with a network active in more than 100 countries. WWF is currently carrying out more than 1,300 conservation projects around the planet – from small-scale local conservation projects to large-scale species protection projects which span all continents.

Our goal is to build a future in which humans can live in harmony with nature.

This is no easy task, but together we can make this mission possible.

There are many conservation organizations in the world, but WWF has a unique way of working: when our strong, science-based principles are combined with the collective power of our supporters in communities, companies and governments all around the Earth, we create real solutions for the planet and its people.

WWF-Hong Kong was founded in 1981 and is an integral part of WWF’s global network. Our work began with managing Mai Po Nature Reserve and conserving iconic species. Over the years, we have expanded and adjusted our mission to better serve Hong Kong’s conservation and education needs and align ourselves with WWF’s global strategy.

You don’t have to be an environmentalist to support the work that we do. No matter who you are or where you live, you just need to believe that the Earth is our one and only home and that we have a duty to care for this planet. If you believe this and can agree to make some changes in your daily life, then you will help create a brighter future for all of us.

Together, it is possible to build a future where people live in harmony with nature.
