National Holiday of Spain or Hispanic Day, which celebrates the discovery of the Americas by Spain (by Christopher Columbus). It is celebrated every October 12th. There is a military parade in Madrid. The Spanish Royal Family watches the parade along with other important politicians of the country. The date of October 12 is also known as the Day of Pilar; The Virgin of Pilar is the patron saint of the Hispanic and the city of Zaragoza in particular. In this city this day is celebrated amazing offering of flowers, the people dress up in traditional dress and parade down street with the flowers that they give of the Virgin.
