Three builds currently stand out as the strongest in Season 9’s PTR testing:
Flay Barbarian
Hydra Sorcerer
Poison Volley Spiritborn
The Flay Barbarian build is arguably the most powerful on the PTR, largely due to the new Hooves of the Mountain God item. This item is currently bugged, allowing the Barbarian to deal negative damage, effectively one-shotting enemies and clearing Pit level 100+ content with ease. However, this is expected to be fixed before the season launch, likely dropping the build to B-tier. Until then, it remains a formidable force.
The Hydra Sorcerer build benefits from the new Ophidian Iris item, which summons a three-headed hydra that deals splash damage and can grow larger and more potent. Like the Flay Barbarian, it currently exploits a bug that doubles scaling with the Shatter skill, but even if fixed, it promises to be a top contender. This build excels in speed clearing and boss fights, comfortably reaching Pit level 100 and beyond.
Rounding out the S-tier is the Poison Volley Spiritborn. The Balazan’s Maxtlatl item enhances Thorns damage and poison synergy, which, combined with the Spiritborn’s Noxious Resonance passive, creates a tanky and mobile build ideal for speed clears.
