I would say that appearance is necessary for a first good impression (something visible) but on the other hand we must show confidence about what we know and who we are, always with honesty.
Qualifications and work experience are strenghts or weaknesses if we have an arrogant attitude during the interview. Nowadays companies look for applicants with social and team work skills.
Talking about my job interviews, they have been very different. My firs job only required desire to work and time availability but with the last one i had three interviews and a degree is mandatory.
