I think I plan the lessons like Deniz, first setting the aims, then thinking about the best means to reach them; I also think that the use of a coursebook gives the students a sense of confidence about their advance during the course, and they can easily rewiew past topics when needed. I also try to use another materials I consider that could be interesting for them, and are related to the topic.
